UNITAR partners with WIPO on annual international property training in New York

WIPO Coordination Office New York, 18 February 2009, 9:30am – 6pm

International intellectual property touches the everyday lives of people, be it in the form of patents, trademarks or copyrights. In addition to its impact on the personal level, it also affects States whose policy making is influenced by internationally agreed regulations in intellectual property, in areas such as public health and climate change.

This one-day seminar pursues two objectives: First, it is designed to provide participants with an overview of the most salient issues regarding world intellectual property, and to emphasize its impact on societies and development. Second, it aims to explain the role of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in promoting intellectual property rights and technology transfer.
