With respect to new projects, the cooperation between France and UNITAR shall soon crystallize through the implementation of a project initiated by UNITAR’s Decentralized Cooperation Programme, in partnership with the urban community of Annemasse (Annemasse Agglo) for the development of an international platform for public-private partnerships on the theme of sustainable development. The territory of Annemasse Agglo, as the operational partner, will host the platform and provide logistical means and technical resources, relying in particular on its network of partners and its Cité de la solidarité internationale.
“This Framework Agreement gives the United Nations the opportunity to grasp what the “Grand Geneva” is, to find new partners and new areas of collaboration”, Ms. Fegan-Wyles said. The Framework Agreement was signed in presence of the President of Annemasse Agglo, Mr. Georges Deléaval, the Mayor of Annemasse and Vice-President of Annemasse Agglo, Mr. Christian Dupessey, and the Sous-Préfet of Saint-Julien-en-Genevois, Mr. Pierre Molager.
“This Agreement represents a new and promising example of tripartite collaboration between the UN, the French government and a local authority, (…). It will allow for the implementation of a promising and ambitious project, as the first step in the development of strong relationships that can – and must - be built between the International Geneva and the "Grand Geneva", of which Annemasse Agglo is part.”, Ambassador Niemtchinow said. “We are on the eve of a very strong cooperation between the International Geneva and the French territory”, Mr. Dupessey concluded. “We are proud of it, and this is very much enriching for us”.
