UNOSAT has more than a decade of experience in the development and delivery of knowledge sharing and training activities and over the theses years has accumulated a remarkable practical experience of training design and delivery on the use of Geospatial Information Technology (GIT) within different application domains which inlcude disasters risk management, water management and territorial planning.
UNOSAT training is designed for professionals from National Governments, regional and international organizations including the United Nations and NGO’s who wish to strengthen their practical skills in the use of Geospatial Information Technology (GIT) within different application domains.
UNOSAT portfolio of training range from 1 day workshop for information sharing, to intensive training courses (3 days/ 1 week/ 2 weeks/ 3 weeks), and medium-long term capacity building programmes designed and tailored to the learning needs of beneficiaries on the use of Geospatial Information Technology (GIT). Since 2006, UNOSAT has designed, prepared and delivered up to 44 training activities and contributed to various knowledge sharing events reaching, as of 2014, approximately 8,000 active professionals worldwide including regional, national and international experts from more than 44 countries (infograph).

UNOSAT courses are generally delivered as face-to-face mode either in-situ or at the headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Training methodology focuses on a highly interactive hands-on learning approach, through computer-assisted exercises based on real case scenarios derived from recent disasters and conflicts, theoretical lectures, round table discussions and field visits.
