UN-ASIGN Crowd is a free application offered by UNOSAT to the humanitarian community to faciliate the collection of photos, assessments, and geo-located text messaging in the field. It is specifically designed to work over low bandwidth connections, reducing bandwidth consumption by close upto 90%.

The photos appear in real time as long as the volunteer has a GSM or Internet connection, otherwise they are stored and uploaded when connectivity is restored.

Individual contributors can see their own photos on the asign website, while UNOSAT will have access to all photos and share those relevant with UN OCHA and other coordination entities.

The tool is regularly used in major emergency responses, including Haiti, Pakistan, Nigeria,Thailand, amonst others.
