This map illustrates satellite detected flood waters (depicted in red) along the affected region of the Mekong River, on the border of Thailand and Laos. Flood water detection was made using MODIS Terra & Aqua satellite imagery recorded on 16 August 2008. Note: cloud cover has prevented a complete analysis. Additional pre-flood MODIS data from April & May 2008 was used in this analysis. This is a preliminary analysis & has not yet been validated in the field.
