Summary: A total of 226 spatially distinct IDP shelter concentrations were identified (as of 22 August 2011) within the urban extent of Mogadishu, representing an increase of 45 IDP sites since 28 July 2011. A projection of the total number of IDP shelter structures located in Mogadishu indicated a minimum estimate of over 41,000. Significant building damages were identified within the Bacaad Market area (Yaqshid district) following the offensive by AMISOM against al Shabaab positions on 28-29 July 2011. This report is based on a time-series analysis of Somali IDP shelter concentrations within the capital city of Mogadishu using satellite imagery recorded the mornings of 21-22 August, 28 July, 15 April and 30 March 2011.
