This map illustrates satellite-detected areas of flooding near Dayr al-Balah in Gaza, resulting from heavy rains occurring around 15 December 2013, and as detected by the Pleiades satellite on 19 December 2013. Areas of stagnant and standing water are clearly visible in a primarily agricultural area, with some housing and infrastructure also affected. A few additional industrial and agricultural areas nearby also show isolated indications of standing water. This is a preliminary analysis and has not yet been validated in the field. Please send ground feedback to UNITAR / UNOSAT.
