This map illustrates security analysis at the Yarmouk and Falesteen Palestinian Refugee Camps, in Damascus, Syria. Imagery from 3 November 2014 showed 21 possible roadblocks and 2 possible checkpoints in strategic locations around the camps. As of 10 January 2015 the situation remains the same and 22 possible roadblocks and 2 possible checkpoints are detected in the imagery. All visible roadblocks and checkpoints remain operational, indicative that the area is under control and access is restricted in and out of the camp area. One additional roadblock is visible as of 10 January possibly due to the absence of cloud cover in the imagery. As of 3 November damage analysis shows several damaged zones inside the camps. Between 3 November 2014 and 10 January 2015 an additional building has been destroyed, likely caused by air strikes or barrel bombing, and another building is severely damaged. This is a preliminary analysis and has not yet been validated in the field. Please send ground feedback to UNITAR / UNOSAT.
