Donna-17 is a category 3 tropical cyclone moving west, over southern pacific ocean at a speed of 9 km/h. Tropical cyclone Donna-17 is predicted to approach northeastern Vanuatu on 04 May 2017 and to make landfall on southern Torba Municipality on 5 May 2017 with a sustainable wind speed of 180 km/h to 210 km/h. The tropical cyclone is then expected to move southern along Penama (06 May 2017) and Shefa (07 May 2017) Provinces.
UNITAR-UNOSAT conducted a population exposure analysis for Vanuatu based on data of the observed and predicted tropical cyclone path, wind speeds from JRC (Warning 2 issued the 03rd May 2017 at 09:00 UTC), and population data from WorldPop.
