Donna-17 is a category 3 tropical cyclone moving west, over southern pacific ocean at a speed of 9 km/h. Tropical cyclone Donna-17 was predicted to approach northeastern Vanuatu on 04 May 2017 but changed its track and it is supposed to pass close to the northern islands of Torba Municipality on 5 May 2017 with a sustainable wind speed of 170 km/h to 200 km/h. The tropical cyclone is then expected to move southern along western Sanma and Malampa (07 May 2017) Provinces.
UNITAR-UNOSAT conducted a population exposure analysis for Vanuatu based on data of the observed and predicted tropical cyclone path, wind speeds from JRC (Warning 4 issued the 04th May 2017 at 09:00 UTC), and population data from WorldPop.
