Executive Director to speak at World Social Forum in Brazil

Brazil is hosting the Bahia Thematic Social Forum, which starts on the 29th January, shortly after Greater Porto Alegre 10 social Years . With the major theme "Dialogue, cultural diversity and civilization crisis", and for three days, Salvador de Bahia brings together NGOs and social movements, unions, associations, religious organizations, government representatives, networks and campaigns around the world. The event seeks to be a space to exchange experiences, promote policy formulation and coordination between all these actors.

UNITAR's Executive Director, Mr. Carlos Lopes, will speak in the panel titled “Crisis and opportunities” organized by Professor Ladislau Dowbor, a professor of economics at the Catholic University of São Paulo. Prof. Dowbor developed a study titled "Crisis and Opportunities in Changing Times" which he co-authored with Franco-Polish socio-economist, Mr. Ignacy Sachs and UNITAR’s Executive Director, Mr. Lopes, to be launched at the Forum.
