From 5 - 12 September 2022, UNITAR conducted a back-to-back mission to the Dominican Republic and Cuba to implement an ad-hoc briefing on e-Learning for diplomatic training. This briefing was conducted in the Spanish language, and it was aimed at diplomats, government officers and personnel from INESDYC (Institute of Higher Education in Diplomatic and Consular Training) and ISRI (Institute of Higher Education of International Relations) "Raúl Roa García”. During this ad-hoc briefing, participants had the chance to discuss new trends and challenges in e-Learning and the differences between synchronous and asynchronous learning, an instructional design that focuses on multilateral diplomacy, critical diplomatic skills, and climate change diplomacy.

Created in partnership between UNITAR and Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU), the International Leaders Programme was created to connect and engage with up-and-coming leaders from emerging powers through an inward visit programme and continuing engagement. Delivered at the HBMSU campus located in the Academic City of Dubai, this programme is conducted in Arabic and includes a workshop in Geneva. Registration is currently open to all audiences. The audience of the programme is aimed at practicing diplomats, civil servants, others working in international relations and graduate students of diplomacy or international relations that wishes to have a deeper insight through interaction with practicing diplomats. Consequently, the courses are comprised of 7 learning topics that discuss strategic future leaders, diplomatic protocol and etiquette, the art of diplomatic communication, international cooperation, diplomacy and international affairs, public speaking, dealing with the media, and conflict management.

In support of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Youth 2030: The UN Youth Strategy, UNITAR is pleased to have launched the United Nations Youth Leadership Development Programme that aims to promote the knowledge of climate change, economic and social development, science and technology, while simultaneously focusing on global issues of environment, public health, climate change, and refugees. Created in partnership with many cooperative institutions in China, this programme engages with young, Chinese students and is delivered in the Chinese language.
