The UN CC:Learn e-learning platform has just featured a brand new 30-minute tutorial on climate information and services!

31 March 2017, Geneva, Switzerland - UN CC:Learn is pleased to announce the launch of a new introductory e-tutorial on "Climate Information and Services" for decision-makers and professionals from Africa and beyond, which has been developed in collaboration with United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). The tutorial is available on UN CC:e-Learn platform

It is structured around answering three questions:

  • What are climate information and services?
  • What is their role in development planning and policy?
  • How can decision-makers strengthen their application?

The tutorial has been developed in collaboration with UNECA’s African Climate Policy Center (ACPC) and the Pan-Africa component of the Weather Information Services for Africa (WISER) programme, supported by UK’s Department for International Development (DFID).

The tutorial is based on a the WISER toolkit “Mainstreaming/Integrating Climate Information and Services into Legislation, Development Policies, Plans and Practices”, and has been tailored to the needs of busy professionals in national, regional, and local governments and other relevant stakeholders.

While currently available in English only, the tutorial is being translated into French and will be available to francophone audiences later this year.

Interactive e-tutorial

The tutorial is a user-friendly learning tool that features a variety of examples, interactive elements, reflection questions and useful links to other UN resources. It features a comprehensive glossary of terms as well as a list of resources and useful links.

Offline package

The tutorial and all supplementary materials are also available as an offline package and can be downloaded at any time for offline study. The offline version contains the same information and features write-in activities.
