UNITAR

30 April 2019, Geneva, Switzerland – United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) in collaboration with the Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (NAZAHA) successfully hosted a 4-day workshop on Leadership and Anti-Corruption in Kuwait City, from 24 to 27 March 2019. Effective leadership, transparency and anti-corrupt structures are fundamental to efficient organizations. The uniquely tailored workshop covered these essential topics and allowed selected staff from different departments of NAZAHA not only to enhance their leadership skills but also to raise their awareness on Anti-Corruption Strategies.

The workshop was conducted in English language by two seasoned experts with invaluable expertise and experience in the field of leadership and anti-corruption policies. In line with UNITAR’s vision of providing the highest quality of training, the workshop comprised of numerous interactive sessions alongside the theoretical sessions.

After a warm welcome by the representatives of UNITAR and NAZAHA, Mr. Jerôme L’host, a dedicated senior consultant with over 20 years of experience, introduced the participants to the essentials of effective leadership. On the following day, participants deepened their knowledge on leadership in a collaborative learning environment which encouraged them to apply and reflect their skills and knowledge on that topic. The final two days of the workshop were dedicated to Anti-Corruption Strategies and the legal framework related to it. These sessions were facilitated by Ms. Lesli Sternberg who has extensive experience as a Crown Advocate, Specialist Prosecutor and Independent Legal Consultant in the field of financial crime. Participants had the chance to broaden their knowledge on the international legal framework and Anti-Corruption initiatives and critically discuss and analyze numerous case studies.

After a successful completion of the workshop, participants proudly received their training certificates. Participants reported that their awareness on the topics had increased considerably and that they would be able to apply the newly acquired knowledge in their work environment. Based on the invaluable feedback of participants, UNITAR looks forward to future workshops on these topics and will continuously enhance the content and format of its training activities.
