6 November 2023, Geneva, Switzerland - To mark UNITAR's 60th anniversary, a gala concert entitled “Music from all corners of the world for peace and our planet” will take place on Thursday, 16 November 2023 at 19:30, at the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève. This gala concert pays tribute to our commitment to empower individuals and organizations to create positive change for peace and sustainability.

20 October 2023, Geneva, Switzerland – To mark its 60th anniversary, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) launched the 'SDG4Kids' initiative, a series of interactive educational experiences linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aimed at engaging Geneva’s young minds to create positive change for a better future.

6 October 2023, Geneva, Switzerland - Climate change is a global issue that requires targeted, adaptable, and tailored solutions. A solution that works well in one country, may not necessarily work as well in another country or region. This was evident at the recent Youth Climate Dialogue which brought together high school students from six countries as part of UNITAR’s 60th Anniversary celebrations.

6 October 2023, Geneva, Switzerland - To mark its 60th anniversary, UNITAR is organizing in Geneva, starting on the 2nd of October, a photo exhibition, displayed on the Rotonde du Quai du Mont-Blanc (across from the Brunswick Monument), will illustrate 60 years of history as well as stories of UNITAR alumni who made a positive change in their community. The alumni featured in the panel exhibition come from Bangladesh, Brazil, Cameroon, China, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iraq, Kenya, Maldives, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, United Arab Emirates and Vanuatu. The opening ceremony on the 6th of October (4 pm) of the photo exhibition will be attended by Mr. Nikhil Seth, the Executive Director of UNITAR, Ms. Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, H.E. Mr. Raymond Loretan, President of the Diplomatic Club of Geneva, and H.E. Mr. Alfonso Gomez, Mayor of Geneva.

27 September 2023, New York, USA – On 15-22 September 2023, UNITAR Executive Director and Assistant Secretary-General Mr. Nikhil Seth paid an official visit to New York City for the 78th United Nations General Assembly and high-level meetings with United Nations executives.

13 December 2023, Geneva, Switzerland - The “Introduction to Sustainable Finance Taxonomies” affiliated e-course is now available in French and Spanish.

21 August 2023, Kigali, Rwanda - “The land of a thousand hills” – this statement is no exaggeration of the undulating landscape of Rwanda. The hills were also a welcoming sight for UNITAR’s pilot training on gender and climate change, organized in collaboration with the Gender Monitoring Office of Rwanda and CIFAL Kigali with support from the Ministry of Environment under the One UNITAR Gender initiative. The One UNITAR Gender promotes innovative learning solutions for women’s empowerment, building on extensive experiences and knowledge of all UNITAR divisions.

3 May 2023 - Bonn, Germany - UNITAR, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2023. Since 2020, UNITAR has also had an office on the UN Campus in Bonn. The Bonn office marked the anniversary on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, with a high-level panel discussion on the past and future of education and research in response to current global challenges. Afterwards, the city and UNITAR hosted a reception on the UN Campus.
