23 May 2012, Geneva, Switzerland - The Government of Poland, in collaboration with the Permanent Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations in Geneva, organised a briefing on UNOSAT with a focus on mapping and analysis for human rights and humanitarian assistance.  The briefing took place in the premises of the EU Delegation in Geneva and gathered representatives from EU countries, officials from the EU Commission and 3 non-EU countries.

29 May 2012, Geneva, Switzerland - The 12th edition of the celebrated Summer Course on International Humanitarian Law will take place on 25 June-6 July 2012, in both Sanremo (Italy) and Geneva, announced the International Institute for Humanitarian Law (IIHL). As in previous years, the course will feature a UNOSAT module on the use of geospatial information and satellite analysis in the application of humanitarian law during conflict and crises.

More than 30 knowledge sharing activities and training courses have been designed and delivered by UNOSAT by end 2011, reaching some 600 active professionals in more than 40 beneficiary countries worldwide. These figures reveal a different facet of UNOSAT, an applied Research Programme mainly dedicated to operational work.
