From 28 February to 25 March 2011, participants from all over the world are invited to attend this four week online course, to be delivered via UNITAR’s e-learning platform. Last year more than 100 participants coming from 54 different countries attended this e-learning course. During the evaluation 91 % of the respondents considered that the course was relevant for their job and that they would recommend it to their colleagues.

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR’s) Multilateral Diplomacy Programme (MDP) is pleased to announce a number of new 2011 face-to-face executive training courses. These Geneva-based activities are open to diplomats, UN staff, and senior executives from the private sector. They are therefore not exclusive and open to all interested individuals.

26 January 2011, Geneva, Switzerland.  UNITAR Executive Director, Mr. Carlos Lopes met with President Leonel Fernández of the Dominican Republic last Wednesday, 26 January 2011, when President Fernández was on a visit in Geneva to address UNCTAD member States and observers. The high-level meeting with a number of key Geneva-based individuals from the world of development and finance, including UN leaders, focused on the major commodity, finance and development challenges.

New York, USA.  The Government of Malaysia is the first to contribute to the newly established Fellowship Fund created by the main training vehicle of the UN, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).   A symbolic and timely gesture, in support of South-South cooperation, this contribution will ensure access of diplomats from least developed and developing countries to Core Diplomatic Training courses (CDT).

UNITAR’s International Law Programme is launching its new e-course on the Law of Treaties, for which the application period is now open. The international treaty, alongside with the international custom, is the most important source of international law. For those involved in the drafting, negotiation and conclusion of international treaties, a sound notion of the Law of Treaties is indispensable.
