CIFAL ATLANTA Director
Serena Newhall currently serves as the Director of CIFAL Atlanta. Serena spent her childhood in Indianapolis, Indiana and later attended high school and university in Denver, Colorado. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Colorado and received her Master of Business Administration in May 2016 from Kennesaw State University, where she was a Paul D. Coverdell Fellow.
Serena served as a Small Enterprise Development Advisor for the United States Peace Corps in Kenya from 2002-2004. After returning from her 27-month assignment, she continued her work in community development and program management while working for the Tennessee Commission on National and Community Service and later with the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Paramaribo, Suriname.
Serena has lived in six countries on four continents, and her interests in intercultural communication and international and community development reflect her many years studying, living and working overseas in the Americas, Europe and Africa.
A married mother of two young boys, she happily dedicates a great deal of her time to packing lunches, coordinating playdates, volunteering at her children’s schools, and playing music, travelling and exploring the great outdoors with her family.
