Consultant - OneOceanLearn Platform Illustrator(s)
Illustrations
UNITAR’s Green Development and Climate Change Programme Unit (GCP) develops methodologies, executes training, supports learning strategies, and facilitates knowledge-sharing with the goal to strengthen capacities in developing countries to implement the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and to advance a green, low emission and climate resilient transition.
UNITAR has been engaged by the University of Strathclyde to support the conceptualization, design and oversight for a virtual platform for integrated knowledge translation (KTP), serving the One Ocean Hub’s vision of ‘integrated ocean governance for equitable and inclusive sustainability’. Knowledge translation is an evolving concept that goes beyond concepts of knowledge capture and transfer incorporating elements of partnership as well as interactive communication and engagement. Good science about the oceans is being generated across several global and national initiatives but the results of this work should reach more people, be more clearly understood and be more likely to lead to positive action.
UNITAR and the One Ocean Hub are seeking applications from interested candidates / institutions in order to establish a Roster for Illustrators to provide the services for illustrations for the One Ocean Learn platform.
To help with the finalization of the OneOceanLearn platform, we are seeking the services of creative and experienced illustrators or illustrating companies who will use their expertise and the OneOceanLearn design concepts to illustrate the different sections of the platform.
There is no deadline, but you are encouraged to apply as soon as possible as selection will be done on a rolling basis until the position is filled. We are looking for an illustrator to start immediately.
We are inviting interested illustrators to submit examples of their previous work which is focused on the oceans, human interactions with the sea such as coastal communities and livelihoods, and sea animals. We would like to include interpretations reflecting local-to-the-artist cultural values and would like to appoint some artists located in the ‘global South’, for example Namibia, Ghana, South Africa and the Pacific islands.
