5 - 6 November 2012, Brazzaville, Republic of Congo - A training workshop on theGHS Congo Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) was held on 5 - 6 November 2012 in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo. The workshop brought together 37 participants from government, industry, civil society, and academia representing the sectors related to the GHS, as well as a resource person from UNITAR. The 2-day training workshop was the opportunity for participants to get to know more about the GHS, its objectives and scope of application, as well as hazard communication and the use of Safety Data Sheets.

The working group discussions focused on reviewing the Situation and Gap Analysis GHS Congoreport prepared within the framework of this project, as well as discussing the elements of the National GHS Implementation Strategy of the Republic of Congo, and the next steps to be undertaken toward the implementation of the GHS in the country.

This training is part of the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) project “Strengthening national capacities for SAICM Implementation and GHS Capacity Building in the Republic of Congo”, funded by the Quick Start Programme Trust Fund. It was hosted by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment of the Republic of Congo.
