Women's Leadership Retreat in Partnership With the InClaritas Foundation

13-15 October 2016, Stockholm, Sweden - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), in partnership with the InClaritas Foundation, held a Women’s Leadership retreat for senior female leaders on the theme: "Leading in Time of Global Transition", in Stockholm, Sweden. In this exclusive, three-day intensive retreat, participants discovered their own and unique leadership style and learned how to harness it.

The retreat took place near Stockholm and included visits to the Stockholm school of finance, a top real-estate company in Stockholm: “Vasakronan” and a visit from the Swedish, awarded “young leadership scholarship”, Madeleine Sundell. During those visits, participants witnessed new types of modern leadership and discussed the required skills to become an effective leader in our modern time. The beautiful setting and environment of Sweden allowed the participants to reflect on their own paths and leadership journeys while providing a cosy and friendly atmosphere.

At the end of the workshop, participants outlined the need for such a workshop, stating it was “wonderful and memorable […] from introduction to closing, it was warm, welcoming, reflective and inspiring journey. It was both seamless and stimulating, flowing very naturally and with purpose.” Another participant stated that: “the activities helped me to be clearer about decisions I have been mulling over, identifying what is important for me and what should drive my decision-making. They also helped me to feel confident about taking a risk and trying something new.”

During the workshop, these senior women shared their personal experience, success, challenges and lessons-learned throughout their careers and their paths into leadership. With the success of this retreat, UNITAR looks forward to working with other UN Partners and Member States to deliver similar workshops in the future.
