For the past 34 years, Kennesaw State University (KSU) has dedicated each academic year to the study of a particular country or region introducing thousands of students to the rich diversity of world cultures that make up the human family. The award-winning program plays a vital role internationalizing our campus and engaging local and global communities. Annually, it results in new courses and curriculum, research projects, education abroad programs, and global partnerships.

The goal of this international conference is to examine ever-changing Moroccan identities with a special focus on the cultural, economic, political and social agency of young women and men. The conference features over 30 presentations from leading scholars, policy-makers, and community leaders from six different countries.

Human rights and individual freedoms, empowerment of women and gender equality, improved access to education for girls and adult education for women, which are all enshrined in the current Moroccan constitution, will be highlighted during this event. The International Conference will have numerous speakers discuss a variety of topics relevant to Moroccan Gender, Identity and Youth Empowerment.  Estrella Merlos, Associate Director of CIFAL Global Network, will be speaking on Transforming mindsets through capacity building for a more sustainable world during the first session of the conference.

The International Conference will have the following eight sessions:

  • Education and Agency in Morocco,
  • Language and Language Use in Morocco
  • Activism and the Media
  • Morocco on the Move
  • Undergraduate Student Perspectives,
  • Panel on the Arts

Through the special sessions, presentations, keynote speakers, and performances, this International conference will encourage students to break down stereotypes, build connections across cultures, and develop the intercultural competencies needed to act responsibly in today’s complex interdependent world.

Scholars, students, policy-makers and community leaders will be the targeted beneficiaries.
