This webinar will look at the progress made after five years of SDGs and the role of SDG monitoring in the upcoming decade of action. Which indicators can we use to measure progress towards the SDGs? How do we report on this progress? How can effective monitoring help to implement the SDGs?

The webinar aims to exchange best practices of SDG monitoring from the perspective of both governments and businesses. The event also aims to inform participants on the current state of progress towards the SDGs in Europe.

The webinar will be comprised of three presentations:

1. Guillaume Lafortune (UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network) will present the main findings of the 2020 Europe Sustainable Development Report. He will discuss how Europe is progressing towards the SDGs and what the remaining challenges are. Lafortune will provide insight into the indicators and data that can be used to measure progress towards the SDGs.

2. Steven Bernagie (Belgian Court of Auditors) will present the main findings of the SDG preparedness review by the Court of Auditors. He will discuss how the Belgian authorities have implemented the SDGs and how they monitor progress on the SDGs.

3. Peter Garré (Bo Pro) will present the 2020 CSR Report of Blue Gate Antwerp, the first eco-effective, water-bound business park in Belgium. Mr. Garré will discuss how Blue Gate Antwerp set ambitions and indicators (KPIs) for their CSR report and how they intend to monitor and report on progress towards these KPIs.

The event will mainly consist of presentations by the speakers, followed by a Q&A. This will enable participants to learn best practices in SDG monitoring, while also contributing to the discussion from their own experience.

This webinar is open for anyone interested in the role of monitoring the progress towards the SDGs. The event is aimed at an international audience of people working on the implementation of the SDGs in government, the private sector, NGOs or education.

This is the first webinar in a series called ‘Monitoring Progress for the SDGs’. The following webinars in this series will further discuss the topic of SDG monitoring from the perspective of European, national and local governments
