Child injuries and deaths as a consequence of car crashes is an urgent issue worldwide. Every 3 minutes a child dies as a result of a traffic accident: 260,000 die every year and a million are seriously injured. In Latin America, 20,000 children die every year due to traffic accidents. It is the main cause of death in children between 5 and 14 years old. In Spain, every day, 20 children suffer injuries of different severity as a result of traffic accidents.

To contribute to child road safety, CIFAL Madrid RACE, together with the City of Malaga, will distribute different road safety education materials that aim to improve road safety in school environments. On the one hand, school patrol kits, consisting of Stop / Pass signs and reflective vests so that schools can help traffic safety in pedestrian crossings near the school. Different school materials will also be distributed with the motto of the campaign, and 2.000 brochures with road safety tips for pedestrians, drivers and school bus users, with advice directed, apart from children, especially to the parents so that through their example they transmit correct behaviors.

  • Reach more than 2,000 children and their parents in order to improve safety of minors in school environments,
  • Create a road safety network at the education communities, including parents, local police and educational centers.

The event is divided in the following sessions:

• Use of child restraint chairs and correct installation.

• Traffic regulation.

• Road safety questions and answers game.

• Rescue and first aid equipment

The event is divded in a presentation given by the President of CIFAL Madrid RACE, the mayor of the municipality, and the local police. Following this, the children and their parents can attend different 14- hour training workshops on road safety.

This Workshop is intended for decision-makers from local government, children, parent associations, and responsible for educational centers.
