PARTICIPANTS FROM POOREST AND MOST CLIMATE VULNERABLE COUNTRIES WILL BE SUPPORTED TO ATTEND THIS TRAINING, WITH THANKS TO THE CDKN ADVOCACY FUND.

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is partnering with UK sustainability consultancy AEA and the CDKN Advocacy Fund to invite representatives/delegates from United Nations Member States, and particularly those from poor and climate vulnerable Member States, to participate in a workshop on Negotiating Effectively Under the UNFCCC, to take place in Doha from the 20 to 22 November 2012.

The workshop will aim to provide participants with the information, skills and techniques needed to participate effectively in the COP18 conference and in UNFCCC negotiation sessions thereafter.  The course will provide an overview of the UNFCCC negotiations and their outcomes to-date, and will also incorporate sessions focusing on key issues on the negotiation table at COP18.

In order to ensure that the training is best tailored to the needs, skills and expectations of negotiators particularly from poorest and most climate vulnerable countries, we would like to ask for your support in answering some short questions that will help us to tailor and target our training most effectively.

To participate in this short questionnaire:
1.    Please go to http://www.learnatunitar.org/login/index.php
2.    Select “Login as a guest”
3.    On the right side of the page, select  “Multilateral Diplomacy”
4.    Choose “Face-to-face courses”, then, “Negotiating Effectively Under the UNFCCC”
5.    In the space “Clef d’inscription”, please type in “UNITAR” as your password.
6.    On the new page that opens, select “Training Needs Assessment”

Participation in this assessment is entirely optional, and all answers will be treated as confidential (will not be used or shared for any other purpose).

The workshop is designed to be highly interactive and participatory. The workshop will include concept learning (lectures, presentations), role-playing (exercises, simulations), experience sharing (working group discussions) and exposure to real world problems and policy choices confronted by diplomats (case illustrations, video performance analysis, and Internet broadcasts of actual multilateral conferences taking place in the UN).

Representatives/delegates from poor and climate vulnerable countries, and all other UN Member States with Party accreditation at the UNFCCC COP18 conference.

Participation of a limited number of officials from poor and particularly climate vulnerable countries will be supported, with thanks to the CDKN Advocacy Fund.  If you wish to apply for CDKN support, please contact ccdiploamcy [at] unitar.org (ccdiplomacy[at]unitar[dot]org)

Participation fee other participants: 1,500USD
