The side-event is to take place during the World Urban Forum presenting the UN approach on Access to Basic Services and how it can contribute to reducing vulnerability of poor and marginalised population. The event will present UNITAR work in this area with particular focus on bottom-up approach used to strengthening the capacity of local authorities. It will also showcase the importance of public-private partnerships to ensure successful implementation of Access to Basic Services to all. The side-event will bring together experts from the public sector, the private sector and civil society to discuss the equitable provision of basic services for vulnerable populations.

To highlight the importance of equitable provision of basic services for vulnerable populations in an urban context. To share knowledge and best practices around the topic using specific case studies.

Presentations by three members of the panel, followed by Q&A session and cocktail reception.
