Sustainable Development Goals emphasise poverty eradication, inclusive growth, environmental sustainability, equality and a people-centred agenda within 17 goals and 169 associated targets. Education plays an important role across all SDGs, driving progress towards sustainable development. Whilst education outcomes cut across the SDGs, SDG4 specifically addresses education – ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all – and encompasses 10 targets.

This course presents an opportunity to deepen their knowledge on education and its role in other aspects of development.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Learn about the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals;
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the main principles in human rights education;
  • Explore the attributes of global citizenship and;
  • Develop ideas on how to implement these values in the class room

The course consists of the following five modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Human Rights and The State of Human Rights Education and Socioeconomic Rights & Neoliberalism and Sustainability
Module 2:  Human Rights Through Children Literature and Human Rights and Racial Equity
Module 3: Global Citizenship
Module 4: Human Rights, Immigration and Human Trafficking
Module 5: Human Rights Through Museum Education

The webinar aims to develop a platform towards collaboration, curriculum development, and instructions for authentic student learning, there will be a emphasis on short presentations combined with small group discussion. Each session will end with a short self-assessment to share additional thoughts, lessons they have learned, and ways to improve future webinars.

This webinar is addressed to teachers within the state of Georgia who have interest in expanding their students learning to promote sustainable lifestyles.
