Water security, and the appropriate management of water resources, are of vital importance for South Africa to achieve its social and economic development objectives.

The seminar aims to facilitate exchange between academics and practitioners on the topic of achieving water security.

At the end of the seminar, participants will be able to describe and discuss the CSIR’s 4-year long study of water security study conducted between 2014 and 2018 in eThekwini Municipality, Durban and Sekhukhune Municipality (Limpopo).

During the seminar participants will be introduced to CSIR research on water security and the current and future challenges facing the city in terms of water security.

Learning activities include, among others presentations and a facilitated question and answer sessions.

This seminar targets eThekwini Municipality government officials involved in water governance.
