With Europe embarking on the path beyond Copenhagen, it is key to integrate fuel cell and hydrogen technologies in European and national policies, as they offer a unique combination of advantages that can address the energy challenges and they are part of the solution to tackle climate change at local, regional, national and European level, whilst boosting the economic growth for a competitive Europe. Yet, Europe is suffering from a lack of awareness about these technologies and their potential. Recent successful demonstrations projects have been achieved, however, there are still a number of barriers to overcome for the market uptake of these technologies. It is therefore of the utmost importance that parliamentarians across Europe have the keys in their hands to understand fuel cells and hydrogen technologies, how they work and what their potentials are.

The training will provide Members of the national Parliaments with information, practical tools and examples to understand how fuel cells and hydrogen work and how they can impact the EU and their national energy mix. Members of the National Parliaments will gain scientific insight and updated knowledge to help in policy and funding decisions related to fuel cells and hydrogen. The training will also reflect with the policy makers on the potential role for EU and Member States to stimulate and enhance the deployment of fuel cells and hydrogen in their countries.

The session will bring together a selection of the best European & national experts. The session will be clearly structured, allowing enough time for discussion. Duration: half a day.
