The European Agenda on Security (2015-2020) recalls the EU need for a solid criminal justice response to terrorism. With this objective in mind Counteradhub provides specific training to professionals belonging to the criminal justice system to enhance their capacities in the prevention of violence and terrorism.

The seminar aims to provide criminal justice professionals with an enhanced knowledge on preventing radicalization leading to violence and terrorism.  Contents and methodologies will focus on a varied approach, promoting strengthened cooperation and involvement among relevant actors, with a special focus on risk assessment methodologies.

At the end of the course, participants will:

  • Be able to assess the size and dynamics of jihadist radicalization in the country
  • Come to know about the State´s policies to tackle the jihadist threat to national security both from the security and preventive dimension.
  • Recognize the signs in the processes of jihadist radicalization and become familiar with procedures of recruitment and indoctrination.
  • Come to know indicators or early warnings of radicalization that may lead to violence
  • Apply strengthened cooperation and involvement among all relevant actors in problem diagnosing and problem-solving.

The course consists of the following four sessions:

•            Session 1: The Jihadist Radicalization in Spain, Diagnosis of the Situation.

•            Session 2:  The Response of the State to the Jihadist Threat. The Police Response. The Judicial Response.

•            Session 3: Radicalization Processes and Jihadism. The Recruitment and Indoctrination Processes. The Radicalization of Young People On-Line.

•            Session 4: Detecting and Measuring Risk Factors of Jihadist Radicalization. A Proposal of Radicalization Indicators and Models of assessment.

The seminar combines short presentations with other interactive training tools, including the explanation of practical situations and the delivery of case studies.  

This course is intended for magistrates, prosecutors, forensic professionals of the criminal justice system who require an enhanced knowledge about processes of radicalization that may lead to violence.  

The seminar focusses on a multisectorial approach, promoting strengthened cooperation and involvement among actors.
