Tourism is today a basic pillar for the progress of the welfare society and for depressed areas in our globalized world. The strengths of the tourism sector is a topic analyzed profusely by institutions, professionals and academics. However, in recent years it has begun to consider whether we really know what its weaknesses are, especially in environments such as the Mediterranean, where some cities show a concern for the negative impacts that may arise from tourism.

The aim of the meeting is to review some of the problems of tourist cities, with the intention of generating debate around security, turistification and the territory brand.

In the different days we will address issues of great interest, both for students and professionals.

The trends in tourism, its treatment in marketing, and the implications it has on development in a global world will be analyzed. The tourism of the Mediterranean will be outlined from the perspective of the Director of the Tourist Observatory of Palermo.

Turistification will be addressed in urban centers and the tax implications that may arise from tourism activity according to types of accommodation.

The Mediterranean and Malaga in particular are areas that we want to analyze, observing safety as a priority element, since it particularly affects the choice of a destination, for which a debate table will be set up, which will deal with these issues with institutional and academic participation.

There will be an interesting workshop that will help participants to carry out a tourism planning based on the infrastructure of the province of Malaga, observing the different perspectives to be taken into account so that the management of the tourism sector together with the management of the same city is carried out in an efficient way

A trip through time from the industrial Malaga to the tourist Malaga and the treatment of the city brand together with the big events will shape the themes of the last day, which will be closed with a round table, in which institutions, professionals and academics will intervene, in order to analyze the model of the city of Malaga, its image and identity and some of the problems that citizens live in today.

Presentation of several papers by specialists, and debate with the attendees will be encouraged.  A Final Evaluation will be carried out to contrast the knowledge acquired during the Course.

The target audience is the managers and technicians of the public administration at all territorial levels, representatives of economic and social agents, political representatives, as well as members of the educational field (professors, researchers, students, etc.)
