The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set environmental limits and critical thresholds for the use of natural resources. The SDGs address a range of social needs including education, health, social protection and job opportunities while tackling climate change and environmental protection.

The city of Malaga has a special relationship with the United Nations and, its CIFAL Training Centre is especially oriented to the Mediterranean area. It is time for these priorities to be known in all spheres of civil society, economic, political and social agents of these territories, and to reflect on the best formulas to contribute to achieve those goals.

This introductory course on the Sustainable Development Goals is the basis for learn more about the process of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations and its involvement in governmental level, non-governmental and public and private institutions. Search first of all familiarize the different citizen actors; from students and teachers, technical managers of the different organizations, even political and social leaders in the new and unique possibility of achieving sustainable and responsible development for present and future generations.

 

The main objective of the course is the dissemination of the SDGs to better understand basic conceptual framework, as well as their implementation at the public level.

  • To describe the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda to better understand them and their challenges
  • To understand how political authorities and other local administrations can contribute towards achieving these goals
  • To analyse from a theoretical and practical point of view the implications of teachers as leaders of children.
  • To apply different disciplines to tackle these goals in public schools
  • To understand the concepts of sustainability and the society’s needs for a systemic approach to their development
