The Congress gathers researchers, faculty and students from various fields of Economics in Ecuador and the region. The main topics pf economic growth and development will be discussed, especially regarding the emerging economic trend of protectionism in the world. Given the current economic recession in world powers such as China, The United States, and Germany, there needs to be a new epistemological and pragmatic approach that is contextualized to the issues of the region. The Congress will discuss matters such as these and it aims to link various social science fields to shed light on the economic future of the region.

The congress aims at enabling participants to submit their research papers of various economic fields, specifically on economic growth and development to inform about and shape the economic future of the country and the region through reformed public policy, public and private alliances and foreign economic policy.

The congress provides a specialized forum for researches in various fields of economics to present their papers, providing a space of interaction between major scholars in the field. It also provides the opportunity to discuss and shape future economic policy in the country and region. Moreover, the congress also consists of a “young researcher contest,” where current and graduated students can present their papers to the congress organizing board.

Central themes:

  • Where is development conducting us? – Challenges and dilemmas from the South
  • Economic growth and development
  • Natural resources economy, agriculture and the environment
  • Territorial analysis and regional development
  • Public policy analysis
  • Economy and enterprises

The congress mainly includes discussion forums led by researchers chosen by the organizing board, presentations by leading scholars of Ecuador and a variety of topics of economic growth and development, and a contest for young researchers. It also offers networking opportunities for researchers across the region and across fields of study through the conferences and discussion forums.

This congress targets mainly leading scholars in various fields of economics including international, geographical, educational, and health economics.
