 UP-CIFAL Philippines through its Inclusive Business Program aims to deepen the discussion on the contribution of business sector in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the country. For the year 2018, UP-CIFAL Philippines will organize fora featuring inclusive business models in different cities around the Philippines.

In collaboration with the constituent units of the University of the Philippines System such as Baguio, Cebu, Clark, Los Baños, Mindanao and Visayas and Management Association of the Philippines (MAP), the Inclusive Business Program also aims to bring in scholars, regional and local government units, local industries and businesses to discuss positive and best business practices in selected cities.

The Inclusive Business Forum aims to:

  • Build awareness on the concept of Inclusive Business;
  • Understand the link between Inclusive Business and Sustainable Development Goals; and
  • Explore how the local business sector in Mindanao contributes to social justice and long-lasting peace.

This Inclusive Business Forum in Mindanao provides a venue to discuss existing inclusive business models among relevant stakeholders to strengthen the linkage of social justice and long-lasting peace and SDGs. This is divided into eight parts:

  • Welcome Remarks
  • Inclusive Business and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • DTI and Inclusive Business
  • Paper Presentation on “Inclusive Business: Strategic Outcomes and Developmental Impact” and Reaction from Government, Industry and Academe
  • Inclusive Business in Practice
  • Open Forum
  • Closing Remarks
  • Inclusive Business Pledge Sign Up Ceremony

See Annex 1 for the Event Programme.

The event will involve in-depth discussion on the key topics such as linkage of inclusive business and sustainable development and the role of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Inclusive Business. It will be followed by a paper presentation on strategic outcomes and developmental impact of inclusive business and reaction from government, the academe and business industry.

After the reaction, a series discussion on Inclusive Business in Practice featuring the initiatives of local businesses and enterprises, including the perspective of youth on inclusive business will commence. It will be followed by an open forum.  After the closing remarks, all participants are encouraged to sign the pledge wall.

The forum targets business associations, entrepreneurs, regional and local government officials, faculty members and students.
