As part of UNITAR Hiroshima's community outreach programme, these Public Sessions are held on a monthly basis in order to benefit the local and international community.

March 8 marks International Women’s Day and represents a global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women. In that light, UNITAR is proud to organize a Public Session on gender issues to elevate the profile of the topic in our community.

In this session, international trends on gender equality and UN roles for gender issues will be addressed, followed by a discussion on the Japanese context from an academic perspective. Using Hiroshima University’s analysis we will talk about imbalances and corrective policies on gender equality.

Public Sessions consist of interactive presentations followed by a Question and Answer session.

Public Sessions are open to anyone to attend. Please visit our website at www.unitar.org/hiroshima, or alternatively mail us at hiroshima [at] unitar.org (hiroshima[at]unitar[dot]org) to register.

Public Sessions are presented in English/Japanese with consecutive translation to Japanese where applicable.
