The personal data of participants applying for, registering for or participating in UNITAR's training courses and other events is governed by the Data Protection and Privacy Policy. By applying for, registering for or participating in this event, the participant acknowledges that he or she is, (or they are) aware of the policy and agree to its terms.

This event is organized as part of the project Capacity Development for Adaptation to Climate Change & GHG Mitigation in Non-Annex I Countries (C3D+) which seeks to improve the capacity of research and training institutions in developing countries to support climate change adaptation and mitigation action.

The workshop aims at strengthening the capacity of community radio broadcasters for a better integration of climate change issues in their broadcasts. Specifically, participants are trained on:

  • Climate change concepts;
  • Effective broadcasting and advocacy methods to promote awareness raising on climate vulnerability within their respective regions as well as prepare the audience to develop adaptation measures;
  • Developing radio programs on climate change with practical case study illustrations;
  • Perform monitoring and evaluation of their climate change awareness raising programs at the community level.

The C3D+ project brings together nine organizations located in developing countries from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Pacific and the Caribbean, to collectively form a knowledge and capacity development network, where each centre contributes its specialized experience to develop and apply tools and methodologies to support decision-making for climate change adaptation and mitigation.

The project is coordinated by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) with financial support provided by the European Commission and the Austrian Development Agency. Supplementary resources are provided by the Government of Switzerland to UNITAR for climate change capacity development activities.
