Formerly called the GIS for the United Nations and International Community Conference, this revamped event explores how ESRI’s ArcGIS platform empowers the international community to achieve the global development goals. The event is co-hosted by UNITAR’s Operational Satellite Application Programme (UNOSAT), and ESRI.

The world has seen the power and importance of GIS to prepare, manage, and deliver successful programs. This year, the timing is right to reflect on past successes and focus on how to respond to crises, adjust to a changing climate, and foster peace for the future.

The 2021 GIS for a Sustainable World Conference will be unlike any previous event. As we adapt to a virtual setting, we've selected some of the most engaging speakers, reformatted Lightning Talks, and provided opportunities to start productive conversations.

In addition, we will be announcing the launch of the Humanitarian ArcGIS Hub site, an all-inclusive database of humanitarian solutions, maps, data, success stories, and much more.

Register to learn how to:
• Understand the scope, scale, and impact of an emergency.
• Use data to analyze and plan missions.
• Use real-time tracking to mobilize field teams.
• Evaluate program effectiveness and sustainability with indicators and information sharing.

Join us virtually April 20–21 as we explore how location intelligence is transforming humanitarian aid efforts. It's clear that together we can make a powerful difference.

Opening Inspirational Plenary: Einar Bjorgo, UNITAR-UNOSAT

UNOSAT-UNITAR, WHO and ESRI welcome the global humanitarian community virtually at the opening Plenary Session on Tuesday, April 20 at 10:00 a.m. CEST. As the event celebrates its 10th year, and UNOSAT its 20th, join us for a look back at the history of humanitarian GIS, and the road ahead. Hear from inspirational keynote speakers on the importance of GIS for epidemic, pandemic, and disaster response, resilience, and risk reduction.

Immediately after the plenary, join colleagues from WFP, UNOOSA, WHO, and ESRI for a discussion around the inspirational opening plenary highlighting the theme of enhancing response and resilience for a more sustainable future.

Community Lightning Talks: Building Resilience: Oran No, UNITAR-UNOSAT

Day two of the GIS user community Lightning Talks focuses on building resilience. Hear from your GIS peers and as they present their stories, successes and challenges. These talks will be fast paced and will include a live question and answer session after the talks.
