The personal data of participants applying for, registering for or participating in UNITAR's training courses and other events is governed by the Data Protection and Privacy Policy. By applying for, registering for or participating in this event, the participant acknowledges that he or she is, (or they are) aware of the policy and agree to its terms.

There were 276 cases of human trafficking reported in Georgia to the National Human Trafficking hotline in 2017.  With Atlanta ranking as one of the most populous cities for Human Trafficking according to the National Human Trafficking Hotline, CIFAL Atlanta is partnering with the International Human Trafficking Institute (IHTI) to offer and awareness training and seminar at Kennesaw State University.  The Human Trafficking Awareness Training will explore the issues of human trafficking and explain the persistence of this practice in the Atlanta areas as well as solutions for how the community can work together to end all forms of trafficking.

The objectives of the Human Trafficking Awareness Training are to arm participants with the knowledge necessary to understand all elements in relation to human trafficking and its management and to leave with a better understanding of what policies/procedures are currently set in place to prevent human trafficking.  Participants will also learn the cycles of the human trafficking trade and how accountability decreases demand and helps prevent human trafficking long-term.   Participants will:

  • Be educated on the steps to mitigating human trafficking within their respective sectors
  • Enhance their knowledge on all aspects of human trafficking in the greater Atlanta region and the nation.
  • Understand current policy set in place to end human trafficking

The Seminar will be led by Ms. Richardson, Executive Director of the International Human Trafficking Institute.  Ms. Richardson has testified before Congress, executed multiple human trafficking initiatives across several communities in the United States, and launched Atlanta’s movement to address child trafficking which began almost 20 years ago.  With decades of human rights and advocacy experience, Ms. Richardson will effectively train participants in an effort to empower these individuals to end human trafficking in their own local communities.

The methodology used in this seminar includes academic sessions, active debates on key topics around human trafficking and a Question and Answers session in the end.

This series is intended for Kennesaw State University students, faculty, staff and community members interested in educating themselves on the subject of Human Trafficking and how to identify it in the community they live in.
