Irregular migration is gaining traction as one of the top humanitarian issues worldwide. Children and adolescents that cross the external borders of the European Union in an irregular way without the company of any adult, are exposed to  violent radicalisation or other forms of organized criminalization.

The second particularly vulnerable group that raises new wedge challenges in the current context, concerning national or European, are the returnees, a growing group of European nationals who moved to areas of armed conflict (Iraq, Sahel, Syria, Afghanistan) and that, participating or not in terrorist acts, they return well to their countries of origin well to other Member States of the EU after experiencing a process of radicalization, which obliges to take preventive measures and of reintegration.

Reflecting on the importance of this issue, CIFAL Malaga offers this workshop that will cover topics regarding this matter.

This event aims to analyse, from a multidisciplinary and interrelated perspective, the problematic of these three phenomena – MENAS, returnees and recruiters –, contrasting the different initiatives and plans existing (Spanish strategies of security and Terrorism of 2019 and counterterrorist European strategy of 2005, European strategy to combat the radicalization and terrorist recruitment of 2015 and the overall strategy of the Union of 2019) with Praxis, in order to assess its efficacy, consequences and effects.

 

  • To access knowledge, material and updated information on the contemporary challenge on international security, from the hand of academics and experts of recognized international prestige.
  • To shed light on a phenomenon in which the mobilization of professionals from different fields.
  • To distinguish between different vulnerable groups, as MENAS, returnees and recruiters.
  • To breakdown the problems of those vulnerable groups in both a national and a European context.
  • To discuss about the fight against anti-violent radicalisation and terrorism.

This event is comprised of the following topics:

 

WEDNESDAY 17th ABRIL:

1) Framework on combating violent radicalism and terrorism and the new challenges of MENAS/returnees and recruiters.

2) The situation of MENAS in Andalusia.

3) Round Table: the problems of MENAs in the context of the national and European fight against violent radicalisation and terrorism.

 

THURSDAY 18th APRIL

4) Violent radicalisation, terrorism and returnees.

5) The situation of the returnees in Spain.

6) Round Table: the problems of returnees in the context of the national and European fight against violent radicalisation and terrorism.

 

FRIDAY 19th APRIL:

7) Violent radicalisation, terrorism and recruiters.

8) Recruiter Profile Analysis.

9) Round Table: the problems of recruiters in the context of the national and European fight against violent radicalisation and terrorism.

 

This event is comprised of lectures, practical exercises and question and answer sessions.

The Students of the University, Public Administration Personnel, and anyone interested in the subject.
