- Rule of Law: UNITAR, in line with the framework set by the UN Secretary-General, engages in various activities aimed at establishing and strengthening the rule of law at the national, regional and international level. To this extent, UNITAR develops and implements capacity building initiatives for the benefit of Member States, institutions and key actors at all levels with the aim of enhancing a worldwide compliance to international principles, norms and standards while advancing a culture of peace, democracy, justice and respect of human rights.
- Crisis Management: UNITAR contribution in the area of crisis management is directed at ensuring that national authorities (particularly from conflict-affected countries) have the right tools and institutional framework for coordinated action. Moving from the recognition of the changing landscape of crises with which governments are confronted today, UNITAR supports governments in adapting their approaches, capacities and tools in various areas of crisis management through a variety of learning-related events (briefings, courses and workshop).
Institutional Capacity Building & Advisory on Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding: UNITAR supports the build-up of institutional capacity for training in the areas of peacekeeping and peacebuilding.
