Perspectivas de Paz (Perspectives of Peace, in English) is the third component of the project based on the goal of supporting the reconciliation process in Colombia through storytelling and historical memory building.

The building of historical memory is a key element in the symbolic reparation of victims. Increased visibility of conflict narratives, from an inclusive perspective, allows participants in this project to have a dialogue on individual and collective experiences during previous and current conflict.

We invite you to watch the video (at the bottom) of the testimonial that the communities from Tierra Grata and La Paz (Cesar - Colombia) share with us. Tierra Grata (Cesar - Colombia) is the site of one of the demobilisation sites for former FARC combatants, now known as the signatories of the peace agreement. La Paz is a community that has been a victim of armed conflict for many decades. With the support of the UN Verification Mission in Colombia, members of both communities lived this component and talk about their experience of individual and community reconciliation.

The Strategy

UNITAR

This component of the project supports local organizations to further develop their capacities to work, not only with children and youth, but also with their families and communities. This focuses on three aspects relevant to the achievement of sustainable peace in marginalized communities in Colombia: reconciliation, resilience and conflict resolution. In this process a specific focus is placed on storytelling methodologies with the aim to collect stories from members of conflict-affected and marginalized communities in different parts of the country which, in a later phase of the project, will be represented through a creative means in a final publication as well as in an exhibition that will be developed by young people that will participate in this project.

Territorial Scope

UNITAR

Perspectivas de Paz is implemented in 17 departments of Colombia and 27 communities. Thanks to its innovative methodologies, it reaches a large number of youth living in vulnerable areas, as well as their families and other community members.
