9 February 2023, Hiroshima, Japan – UNITAR Division for Prosperity/Hiroshima Office will resume its in-person Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (NDNP) Training Programme in Hiroshima, Japan. The UNITAR programme gives diplomats detailed insights into the protocols and procedures of disarmament and non-proliferation conferences – such as the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) Review Conference and meetings on the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons – and builds their communication and negotiation skills.

She was therefore delighted to fulfil that passion with her participation in the UNITAR Youth and Anti-corruption Programme in Sahel Region in 2019. Not only did Francine-Blanche learn about the multidimensional problem of corruption, but she also gained the resources to be an actor of change – in her workplace and the broader fight against corruption in Cameroon.

1 February 2023, New York, USA.- United Nations delegates and experts participated in a tailored workshop entitled Revitalization of the Work of the General Assembly. Building upon past and ongoing experiences, all segments of the workshop aimed to enhance delegates’ capacity and essential knowledge of the background, mandate, main areas, and outcomes of the Ad Hoc Working Group (AHWG). Organized by the Permanent Missions of Australia and El Salvador and supported by the UNITAR New York office, the workshop counted nine presenters and more than 140 participants in an in-person setting at the United Nations.

31 January 2023, Geneva, Switzerland- The Annual Geneva Interfaith Dialogue convenes a diverse panel of Ambassadors and other high-level representatives of the world’s major faiths, as well as the International Geneva community at large, to engage on the links between faith, politics, and society. The Dialogue is held on the premises of the United Nations Office in Geneva (UNOG) each year during World Interfaith Harmony Week. It serves as a platform not simply to commemorate UNGA Resolution 65/5, but as a vehicle to raise public awareness, renew the Resolution’s commitments, and build capacity for putting the Resolution’s values into practice across the world.

30 January – 3 February 2023, New York, USA — The UNITAR office in New York has successfully concluded the second week of training for the PGA Fellowship. The training took place at the United Nations Secretariat building with two sessions per day, totaling 20 sessions within two weeks. Each session was led by high-level United Nations officials and experts, handpicked by UNITAR NYO for their expertise on each specific subject area.

25 January 2023, New York, USA - Specialists from the Human Development Report Office (HDRO) of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) delivered a comprehensive workshop on 2021-2022 Human Development Report Uncertain Times, Unsettled Lives: Shaping our Future in a World in Transformation for over 150 participants from more than 100 nationalities. The A tailored workshop was opened by the Chief Statistician of the HDRO and the Director of UNITAR NYO, Ms Yanchun Zhan and Mr Marco Suazo, respectively. The workshop aimed to connect the dots between various development challenges and showed interacting layers of uncertainty.
