9- 10 September, New York USA, virtual seminar – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Office in New York successfully launched the Joint Swiss-UNITAR Briefing on United Nations Budgetary Matters training series on Tuesday, 7th September 2021. The four-day virtual training programme caters to the needs of the incoming delegates of the United Nations General Assembly’s Fifth Committee. The last two sessions have directly benefited more than 100 delegates each session from numerous Member States.

21 September 2021, New York, USA – Improving road safety globally requires solutions that can be implemented consistently over the next decade. UNITAR, the Ministry of Transport of the Federal District of Brazil, and AB InBev gathered in New York to present the “Management Practices for Safer Roads Toolkit – The Immersive Virtual Experience”.

20 September 2021, New York, USA - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar, developed the Strengthening Knowledge and Skills in Multilateral Diplomacy: Induction Course for Qatar Diplomats which took place between 20 - 24 September 2021 via Zoom. This is a comprehensive course designed to enhance the performance of 13 diplomats from the Permanent Mission of Qatar to the United Nations. Mr. Pelayo Alvarez from the UNITAR New York Office greeted the participants and the panelists, Dr. Jimena Leiva Roesch, Fellow at International Peace Institute and Dr. Rebecca Webber, Former US Diplomat, who presented the session together.

8-14 September 2021, New York, USA - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office concluded a private Security Council training program for Ghana’s delegation. Ghana is one of the newly elected five countries to serve as non-permanent member of the United Nations (UN) Security Council for the 2022-2023 term. The training, which lasted for five days and attended by approximately 75 participants, provided participants with knowledge, information, and recommendations on the Security Council. It also included topics such as the formal and informal Council meetings, practices and outcomes, case studies, working methods, what makes a successful term on the Council, among other vital topics.

17 September, 2021, Hiroshima, Japan - UNITAR ran its online training programme Gender Empowerment Now: Building Capacity to Mainstream Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment into the Government Policy of Jordan and Lebanon from March to May 2021.

16 September 2021, New York, USA - The UN Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director of UNITAR, Mr. Nikhil Seth, is visiting New York during the high-level period of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). This is an official visit to the opening of the seventy-sixth session of the UNGA.

September 2021 - UNITAR, as the member of the Global Network of Institutions for Statistical Training (GIST), has recently published an article entitled “Strengthening the competencies of policy makers for better use of data in public policy design” in the Statistical Journal of the International Association for Official Statistics (IAOS).
