May – July 2019, Cotonou, Bénin - As part of the implementation of the National Learning Strategy on Climate Change, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Benin, with the support of UNESCO, organized the first edition of the School Competition on Climate Change for students between 10 and 15 years of age.

22 October 2019, New York, USA – UNITAR jointly with the International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Atlanta (CIFAL Atlanta) hosted 50 Academic Fellows from the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI). The Fellows visited the United Nations Headquarters in New York to learn about UNITAR’s capacity building initiatives in support of sustainable development and to hear insights from a private sector executive on how to build partnership to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

18 October 2019, New York, USA – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office, in partnership with the Permanent Mission of Qatar to the United Nations, B4 Development, and Generation Amazing, hosted an event on using behavioral insights and sports in preventing violent extremism. The event took place in Conference Room 6 at UN Headquarters on 18 October 2019.

15-18 October 2019, Jeju, Republic of Korea – The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Jeju (CIFAL Jeju) in partnership with the Regional Support Office of the Bali Process (RSO) organized a four-day international workshop on “Enhancing Human Security in the Asia Pacific Region” in Jeju, Republic of Korea.

Indonesia is in one of the world’s most natural disaster-prone areas and is at risk to multiple hazards, including flooding, earthquakes, landslides, tsunami, volcano, and cyclone.
14 – 18 October 2019, Jakarta, Indonesia - Throughout 2018, Indonesia's National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) recorded almost 2,000 natural disasters that claimed more than 4,000 lives and displaced approximately 3 million people. Disaster events occurred in 2018 also caused severe financial losses up to $billion according to Indonesia’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency. The Government of Indonesia spends $300 to $500 million annually on post-disaster reconstruction.

15 - 16 October 2019, New York, USA - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office held a two-day training course titled “Training for New Delegates of the Permanent Mission of Sudan to the United Nations” at the Permanent Mission of Sudan to the United Nations.

16 October 2019, Geneva, Switzerland - The SDG Innovation Bootcamp, a Geneva Tsinghua Initiative exchange programme run in partnership with the Tsinghua X-lab innovation incubator and the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), is open for registration. Travel dates are 25 November – 1 December.

14 October 2019, Curitiba, Brazil – The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Curitiba (CIFAL Curitiba) welcomed a delegation of entrepreneurs from Ecuador and Peru in order to learn about the innovative structure and management model of the Federation of Industries of the State of Parana (FIEP).
