UNITAR Hiroshima Holds Workshop II for Afghanistan Fellowship Programme in Abu Dhabi

4 September 2015, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – The UNITAR Hiroshima Office has successfully concluded Workshop II of its signature Afghanistan Fellowship Programme. Held between 31 August and 4 September 2015, the Workshop examined Organisational Needs Assessment, Project Planning and Design, as well as Team Development and Management. The Workshop also progressed the team projects, which focus on problems that organizations in Afghanistan are currently facing, to the next stage with the presentation of Individual Needs Assessments. Resource Persons at the Workshop included Dr Michael Fors of Microsoft Corporation and Professor David Eaton of the University of Texas at Austin.

The Afghanistan Fellowship Programme, in its 12th annual cycle, is a seven-month long training programme which sees 60 Afghan civil servants, academics and practitioners paired with Mentors from around the world in an innovative blended-learning environment.

The Abu Dhabi workshop will be followed up by online mentoring sessions, as well as video-conferences examining Results-based Management and Risk Mitigation.  The next workshop will be held in Kabul, Afghanistan in October 2015.
