UNITAR New York Office – Launching of New Training Courses and Lecture Series
Since the beginning of the year, UNITAR New York Office (NYO) has engaged in a series of conversations with more than 20 Permanent Missions to the United Nations to introduce the new Executive Director as well as the Head-of-Office in NY and the new catalogue for Diplomatic Training Courses and Lectures in 2016 as well as the Executive Diploma.
As a result of all these conversations, UNITAR signed a letter of agreement with the Permanent Mission of Italy to organize a series of five trainings and lectures oriented to enhance the capacity and skills of Diplomats from Least Development Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The courses will be developed in the first six months of 2016 which include Social Media, Website Creation, Climate Change, High-Level Training for Senior Diplomats and Drafting Resolutions. On 26 February 2016, the Permanent Mission of Italy launched the UNITAR training series in a special event organized at their Mission for the LDCs and SIDS diplomats.
Also during the first semester of 2016 UNITAR will organize 5 modules on the Preparations for 2016 General Assembly Quadrennial Comprehensive Policy Review (QCPR) of UN Operational Activities for Development together with UN DESA and the Government of Switzerland.
Additional projects are undergoing with the Permanent Mission of Sweden as well as the Permanent Mission of the United Arab Emirates to establish direct collaboration with UNITAR and produce tailor made projects.
