June 2017, New York, USA - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), in cooperation with the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and the Sustainable Development Fund (SDGF), with the generous support of EcoVadis, will co-organize the HLPF private sector training workshop “Business leading the way: the SDGs as a tool for sustainability and growth". The workshop will take place on 13 July 2017 from 9:00 to 18:00 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York during the United Nations High Level Political Forum (HLPF).
The HLPF, which will session every year until 2030, is the global platform for the follow-up and review of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The workshop will offer hands-on sessions for candid discussions, direct networking and training opportunities in integrating SDGs into sustainability strategies within the supply chain. Discussions will address best practices, lessons learned and relevant tools in incorporated the SDGs into existing reporting and evaluation ratings, standards, indexes and methodologies.
Participants from selected companies will be invited to present their progress, achievements and challenges in using the SDGs as a tool for sustainability, leadership, partnership and growth.
The one-day workshop will also aim to engage leaders in making the business case that embracing SDGs more robustly could be the most important decision if a company wants to remain relevant and competitive.
Participants will have the unique opportunity to network with senior government officials, UN representatives, private sector actors and industry leaders, international financial institutions, academia and other non-state representatives advancing the SDGs.
