Hosting the 11th Meeting of the Integrated Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Training Group

20 May 2015, Geneva, Switzerland – UNITAR Peacekeeping Training Programme is hosting the 11th Meeting of the Integrated Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Training Group.

The Integrated DDR Training Group (IDDRTG) is composed by international organizations and training institutes with a common goal of developing and sharing training materials based on the United Nations Integrated Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Standards (UN IDDRS).

IDDRTG develops training for DDR practitioners both from international and regional organizations, military, police and NGOs etc. The aim is to provide an integrated approach to the DDR with focus on planning, management and implementation of the process, using the IDDRS as guidance to ensure well trained personnel.

The Annual General Meetings of the IDDRTG creates a unique opportunity for the Group to exchange experiences with focus on the newest development within DDR trainings and training materials. It brings together members and strategic partners which creates an opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss the integrated approach to DDR with focus on planning, management and implementation of the process.

Previous meetings have been taking place in: Brindisi, Berlin and Pisa (2006), Nairobi (2007), Oslo (2008), Accra (2009), Stockholm (2010), Geneva (2011), Barcelona (2012 and 2013) and  Bonn (2014).
