April 30 2013, Hiroshima, Japan - UNITAR recently completed a training programme for 24 participants, from 15 countries, examining the nomination process for World Heritage Sites. Held 22 to 26 April, the workshop was the tenth annual cycle in the Management and Conservation of World Heritage Sites Series, and was subtitled World Heritage Serial Nominations and the Vital Role of Comparative Analysis.

25 February, Hiroshima, Japan - UNITAR has signed a Letter of Agreement with the Ministry of Oil of the Republic of Iraq to train 26 civil servants in both Hiroshima and Tokyo between 16 and 28 March.
The training programme, being developed in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), will address public sector leadership, human resources development and organizational change, along with an examination of the post-conflict reconstruction of Hiroshima and Japan.

7 November 2012, Hiroshima, Japan | Singapore | Kabul, Afghanistan - The final Web-Seminar in the seven-month-long UNITAR Fellowship for Afghanistan programme took place recently, connecting Hiroshima, Singapore and Kabul. The 59 Fellows, 10 Coaches and 4 Afghan Resource Persons of the 2012 Cycle, joined by representatives of UNITAR and the Ministry of Finance of Afghanistan, gathered at the Ministry to receive a presentation delivered by Ms. Winifred Loh of Singapore.

19 November 2012, Tokyo, Japan - The UNITAR Diplomatic Training Series in Tokyo, run by the UNITAR Hiroshima Office, recently concluded its fourth session. Entitled Rio+20 and the Green Economy, the 4-day session saw representatives from 17 Embassies in Tokyo in attendance. With faculty members from UNITAR, and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the session examined international developments leading up to, and in the aftermath of, the Rio+20 Summit earlier in 2012, as well as the concepts behind the Green Economy.
