26 – 29 June 2023, Beirut, Lebanon – UNITAR’s Division for Multilateral Diplomacy implemented a highly successful workshop on Stakeholder Engagement in collaboration with Lebanese National Energy (LNE) and under the patronage and presence of H.E. Dr Hector Hajjar, Minister of Social Affairs (MoSA) of Lebanon.

Bringing together team members of MoSA and recognized NGOs, the workshop explored means and methods of stakeholder engagement. Following the opening remarks by Mr Ghassan El Khoury, President of LNE, and those of H.E Dr Hector Hajjar, Minister of Social Affairs of Lebanon, Mr Walid Haidar, Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, introduced participants to the topic from the MoFA perspective.

Throughout the next three days, participants worked on concrete cases under the guidance of UNITAR expert Gilbert Silvius. During the interactive sessions, they first identified all the relevant stakeholders before mapping out the different interests of the parties involved. In the following sessions, the relationship between the different stakeholders was explored. Special attention was paid to communication strategies, best practices, and participants, and how to deal with non-aligned stakeholders.
